Woodlands Radiology contracts with various major health insurance companies. Many insurance plans (including PPOs) require prior authorization for radiology services, and we understand that working with insurance and other benefits can be challenging. Our knowledgeable staff is happy to help you with authorization questions and pricing estimates.

Our experienced staff will assist with obtaining the required pre-authorization for your CT examination and submitting your examination charge for payment to your insurance provider. Woodlands Radiology staff will notify you of your required co-pay and deductible required at the time of service according to your insurance plan terms of agreement

A Computer Assisted Tomography examination, also call a CAT Scan or CT scan utilizes x-ray (radiation) techniques to create detailed images of the body.  A computer then constructs cross section images also called “slices” of bone, soft tissue and blood vessels within the body.

CT examinations can be ordered with, without and with and without contrast.   Some CT examinations are ordered with oral (by mouth) and/or intravenous ( IV injected into an arm  vein) contrast to improve the Radiologist’s ability to see the images within the body more clearly.

A Board-Certified fellowship trained Radiologist (a MD) will interpret (read) your examination and fax a report to your physician within 2 to 4-hours.

Several Non emergent services such as an MRI or surgery require pre authorization by your insurance company to ensure the medical necessity and that the service is covered by your plan.
